Privacy & data protection

Privacy Policy

How the International Growth Research & Evaluation Center (IGREC) handles personal information shared through this website and our professional engagements.

1. Scope of this policy

This policy explains how IGREC collects, uses, stores, shares and protects personal information when you use our website, contact us, submit an inquiry, apply for a career opportunity, or engage with us in connection with research, evaluation, data, fieldwork or advisory services.

Project-specific research activities may also be governed by approved study protocols, informed-consent materials, data-management plans, client agreements or other requirements that apply to that engagement. Where those documents provide more specific protections, they should be read together with this policy.

2. Information we may collect

Website and inquiry information may include your name, organisation, email address, telephone number, service requirements, project location, message, and any files or briefs you choose to submit.

Career applications may include your name, telephone number, curriculum vitae and related application information. CV files are treated as private application records and are made available only through authorised administrative access.

Technical information may include IP address, browser and device information, page requests, referral information, consent preferences and limited analytics events used to operate, secure and improve the website.

Research participants and project partners may provide additional information under a specific study or project protocol. The categories collected depend on the approved research purpose and should be limited to what is necessary for that work.

3. How we use information

IGREC may use personal information to respond to enquiries, prepare and manage research engagements, communicate with clients and partners, review career applications, administer website services, maintain security, keep appropriate operational records and meet professional or legal obligations.

Research-related information is used for the purposes communicated in the relevant study, evaluation or project documentation. We do not use research-participant information for unrelated commercial marketing.

Where optional analytics or support tools require consent, they should remain disabled until the relevant consent preference has been provided.

4. Sharing and service providers

IGREC does not sell personal information. We may use trusted service providers for website hosting, email delivery, analytics, communications, document storage or other operational functions. Those providers receive only the information reasonably required to perform the relevant service.

Information may also be shared with authorised project partners, clients, researchers or institutions where this is required by an approved project arrangement, participant consent, contractual obligation or applicable law.

5. Security and retention

IGREC applies administrative and technical controls intended to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure. Access to private administrative records is restricted according to user roles and operational need.

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain required project or business records, or to meet contractual, ethical, regulatory or legal obligations. Retention periods may differ between website enquiries, career applications and research datasets.

6. Cookies, analytics and support tools

The website may use essential storage required for security, authentication and site functionality. Optional analytics and support technologies may be controlled through the website consent mechanism where configured.

Analytics information is used to understand website performance and engagement. It should not be represented as personally identifiable research data, and external analytics providers do not receive access to private CMS records or private research files through the public website.

7. Your privacy requests

You may contact IGREC to ask about personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, raise a privacy concern, or request deletion where retention is no longer required and deletion is permitted by the applicable project, contractual or legal obligations.

Some records cannot be removed immediately where IGREC must retain them for legitimate research, contractual, audit, safeguarding, regulatory or legal purposes. We will assess requests in the context in which the information was collected.

8. Contact IGREC

Privacy enquiries can be sent to info@igrec-ug.org or raised through the IGREC contact page. You may also contact IGREC by telephone on +256 781 299530.
